- Req#: 457694
- Assist with data collection for patients, including medical history, according to established guidelines and report any significant change in patient condition to supervising RN
- Perform patient screening for vital signs, collection of specimens, preventive health measures, immunizations, and patient safety
- Implement physician orders according to established policy and procedures and pharmacy guidelines
- Administer prescribed medications adhering to LPN scope of practice as outlined in State of Alaska Board of Nursing
- Perform nursing procedures to include but not limited to, wound treatment, EKGs, foley insertions, and phlebotomy.
- Perform IV insertion with appropriate training and initial and annual skills validation.
- Assist medical staff, team leaders and co-workers to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient care
- Perform other duties as assigned

Purpose of Position:
Working in a team, under the oversight of an RN, to provide direct patient care duties including, but not limited to, participation of patient treatment regime, administer medications, observe effectivness of medications, vital sign assessment, patient/family teaching, and record keeping that is focused on the comfort and health of the patients in the acute care unit.
